Cultural Scene in Thiruvananthapuram, Capital of God's Own Country

Trivandrum has a vibrant and eclectic cultural scene. This is an attempt to showcase through photographs some of the events to give a flavour to the common man - not the cognoscenti. I will also post some curious views of Trivandrum which may even be a 'culture shock'! You will find that recently, I have been adding some snippets from the city not necessarily related to culture but give a holistic view of the life in this city.

Anchuthengu- Anjengo

Inside the Anjengo Fort.

A piece of land called Anchu thengu (അഞ്ചു തെങ്ങു ) was gifted by the Queen of Attingal to the East India Company. EIC built a fort there and as they could not pronounce the Malayalam name, they started calling it Anjengo.

Elephant display at East Fort

This life like display of elephants with full regalia was to promote a jewellery showroom in East Fort neat the Anandapadmanabha swamy temple.

Kathakali at Margi inside East Fort

One can watch Kathakali, Koodiyattam or Nangiar Koothu performances at Margi situated near Fort School , Trivandrum.
